Dana Tonrey - Chair
Dana J. Tonrey owns and operates Stillwater Investment Management, LLC, an Independent Investment Advisory firm, with her husband, Jim. Dana's focus is on the operational side of the business and she is directly responsible for finance, compliance, Human Resources, and information technology. Prior to founding Stillwater Investment Management in 2003, Dana lived in Boston, Massachusetts where she served as Vice President of Technology Services for Wellington Management and as Network Integrator of Information Services for Putnam Investments. Dana received her Bachelor of Science degree in Management from Bentley University in Waltham, Massachusetts and her Masters in Business Administration from the Carroll School of Management at Boston College. Dana lives in Lake Elmo, Minnesota with her husband and her two children. Musical theater has been a big part of Dana's life since she was very young and she knows how important a creative, safe, nurturing arts environment is to all young people. She was thrilled to join the Ashland Board of Directors in 2016.
Deb Monk - Vice Chair
Deb Monk is a current Human Resource Director at STAR Services and has held this position for over 20 years. She specializes in Employment Law, Labor Relations, Hiring, Policy and Procedure formation, workers compensation, and various other related HR responsibilities. Deb holds a BA from the College of St. Benedict in Sociology and Human Resource Management. Deb lives in Maplewood with her husband John and their two sons Josh and Sam. Sam has been very involved in many aspects of Ashland and has gained valuable leadership skills and life lessons by being a part of this wonderful community. Deb enjoys camping, traveling, and being with friends and family. Deb previously served on Ashland’s Create the Magic Committee for 2 years, was a parent volunteer coordinator for Ashland’s ACT Program for three years, and has been a Board member since 2015. Deb chose to join the Board because she values Ashland’s strong mission and dedication to mentoring children and helping them reach their potential.
John Yarusso - Treasurer
John Yarusso is a seasoned operations professional with significant experience in supply chain, contract negotiations, project management, facilities management, continuous improvement and planning. He is currently the Director of Global Supply Chain and Planning at Computype. John holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Minnesota and an MBA from the University of St. Thomas. He and his wife Rocky have raised 4 adult children and are committed to supporting youth mentorship programs. Their daughter Angela was very involved in Ashland and grew to be a true leader through her many experiences in the Ashland community. John has worked extensively with his local church youth group, Boy Scouts of America, Habitat for Humanity and Ashland Productions (Board member since 2008). He currently serves as Trustee for St. Jude of the Lake Church and Treasurer of the Ashland BOD. John enjoys hiking, underwater hockey and DIY projects.
Mary Jo Lewis - Secretary
Ashland has been part of Mary Jo's life since her son Danny started performing with them about 10 years ago, In 2009, Rob asked Mary Jo to write a grant proposal for the fledgling ACT! program. Since then, she's been part of Ashland in many off-stage and behind-the-scenes capacities, but the 2017 Cabaret was the first time she's been on stage (!!!) with Ashland. As a parent and Board member, she's been able to see first-hand the difference Ashland can make in the lives of kids, creating a secure home base where they learn to flourish not just as performers but as confident and compassionate people. That is exactly what Mary Jo would desire in any organization that kids participate in, and that is what Ashland provides - and that is what makes Ashland special!
Is a managing partner for Cresa, a commercial real estate consulting firm. Is married to wife Krista and they have two children Zoe (11) and Jaden (8). He is passionate about spending time with his family and their activities, including travel and most anything outdoors. Steve’s first connection to Ashland started with his daughter attending a summer camp at Ashland. Steve prefers to give back his time to social service organizations, particularly focused on kids. Ashland has an amazing mission that is contagious, and also aligned well with my passion area to give back.
Laura was pleased and honored to join the Board in the fall of 2017. Ashland Productions has been a part of Laura’s life for nearly 8 years. Her daughter Mary Kate started in the Ashland ACT! Program as a 7-year old. Through Mary Kate’s initial experience with ACT! Laura became the school’s parent volunteer. Laura has always had a tremendous respect for Ashland because of its youth mentoring Mission. As a seasoned communications professional, she has spent her time between working at the Minnesota Capitol and for various professional Associations. She loves the varied work that she has been afforded to do over the years, including: Managing people, writing articles and newsletters, executing strategic plans, fostering relationships with key stakeholders on issues, working with donors, and instituting special events. She hopes some of this experience will in some way benefit her work with Ashland. Laura holds a BS in Communications from F.S.U. and an MA in Organizational Leadership from the College of St. Kates.
Marci was introduced to Ashland Productions in 2005 and immediately recognized that Ashland Productions is a very unique organization whose mission incorporates two of her passions, the theater and children. Since 2005 Marci has helped Ashland to grow in various roles, from serving on the Board of Directors, to production coordinator and deck manager on productions, to leading Ashland’s first fundraisers Marci has a BS degree in Child Psychology and is a long time employee of the U of MN. In her free time she loves spending time with family and friends up at their cabin.
Ryan McEnaney was thrilled to join the Ashland Board of Directors in 2016. He is the owner of Frenchies Modern Nail Care in Woodbury and Chanhassen, as well as owner and Public Relations Manager for Bailey Nurseries, his family’s business located in Woodbury. His background is in communications and public relations, having worked for many years in the entertainment industry in Los Angeles before returning to Minnesota. In his role at the nursery, Ryan travels the country as spokesperson for their consumer brands to educate home gardeners on the benefits of getting their hands dirty. In addition to his professional work in the communications field, Ryan has a history of vocal performance in theatre and most recently with the Minnesota Chorale.
Sara is the Executive Director and Founder of Camp Odayin – a nonprofit organization serving children with heart disease. Prior to her work with Camp Odayin she was a Social Worker in the Forest Lake School District. Sara holds undergraduate degrees in Social Work & Communication from Concordia College, Moorhead MN, and a graduate degree in Youth Development Leadership from the University of Minnesota. She joins Ashland with a wealth of board experience including YMCA Camp St. Croix, Concordia College National Alumni Board, and St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church Foundation. Sara lives in Lake Elmo with her husband and daughter, and plays hard at the cabin any chance she gets. She is thrilled to be joining the Ashland family, and believes in the positive, life changing experiences that Ashland provides.
