APR 15, 2017 - G.B. LEIGHTON

More than 200 shows a year. Jubilant fans who follow him from Minnesota to Mexico. More than 70,000 albums sold. A new release “Get Up” and a state-of-the-art nightclub named after one of his songs -- all without the support of a major record label…

Meet GB Leighton, a band named after one of the regions’ most incendiary live performers and consistently solid songwriters, Brian Leighton. Through more than a decade and eleven studio albums, Leighton and his six piece band have been tearing up rock clubs, festivals and even a few fan’s living rooms with a slew of songs that connect with the heart and couples singing along out on the dance floor. “A man of the people” is a phrase usually reserved for statesmen and politicians, but for Leighton, it’s a fitting description when you see him in action working a crowd.

Jan. 30, 2017 - Shaun Johnson Big Band Experience

The Big Band Experience creates more than music. They create feelings. Experiences. The kind you remember as, “that unbelievable night out” and they are bringing those feelings and experiences to Lyric Arts. Shaun Johnson, is an Emmy-winning singer/songwriter who is originally from a small town in Iowa before attending Saint John’s University and then settling down in Saint Cloud, Minnesota.

Wanting to bring an innovative big band experience to the audience, Shaun put together a group featuring some of the best instrumentalists and arrangers in the Midwest – guys who've toured with such luminaries as Aretha Franklin and Johnny Mathis, who are Music Educators of the Year and who are integral members of collegiate jazz faculties. His vision was to create a contemporary big band sound with a pop flair, honoring legends like Frank Sinatra, with a nod to Michael Bublé, while giving the music his own twist–performing songs ranging from the “Spiderman Theme” to originals from U.S. songwriters.

Heir to the Frankish throne, the young prince Pippin is in search of the secret to true happiness and fulfillment. He seeks it in the glories of the battlefield, the temptations of the flesh and the intrigues of political power (after disposing of his father, King Charlemagne the Great). In the end, though, Pippin finds that happiness lies not in extraordinary endeavors, but rather in the unextraordinary moments that happen every day.

Multi-platinum recording artist and pianist Steven C Anderson will bring the music of the holidays to life this December during a series of concerts around the region, culminating with a one-night stand at the majestic Cathedral of Saint Paul. Titled Christmas Together with Steven C & Friends, these concerts offer a rare opportunity to catch the talented composer and recording artist in a live performance showcasing the rich tones of his 9-foot Bösendorfer grand piano – the Ferrari of pianos.

Along with a host of traditional and original Christmas and seasonal selections, Anderson promises to play his international hit single “Daybreak,” at each show.  “Daybreak” has been streamed more than 13 million times on Pandora and other online sites. Anderson recently brought this top-selling song title to full-living color in a music video. Since it posted publicly August 30, it has shot to more than 500,000 views on Facebook and YouTube.  The video captures Anderson playing “Daybreak” on his Bösendorfer grand piano in front of the Cathedral of Saint Paul, as the sun rose over the capital city and lifted early morning shadows from the landmark church façade. http://www.stevencmusic.com/videos/2016/8/14/daybreak

Anderson will be joined on stage at each performance by popular Twin Cities vocalist Aimee Lee and multi-instrumentalist Nate Wilson on violin and mandolin.  Also featuring members of Voice Trek and the Plaster Sisters.

In 2014, Anderson recorded “Christmas Beyond” at the Cathedral of Saint Paul in collaboration with Cathedral organist Lawrence Lawyer and internationally known arranger Adi Yeshaya.  The three reunited at the Cathedral last December for a Christmas concert that packed the majestic space with 2500 enthralled listeners on a frosty winter’s night. This year’s concerts will expand upon the warmth and promise of that magical evening.

"Christmas Beyond” is available on iTunes, Amazon, CDBaby and at www.stevencmusic.com. Mainly Piano’s review of “Christmas Beyond” called it “the standout Christmas album for 2015” and “a treasured tradition for many years to come.”

In addition to album sales, Anderson’s music has been downloaded and streamed across a multitude of channels nationally and internationally. His music has received more than 46 million spins on Pandora and has been played on more than 150 radio stations worldwide.

Kat Perkins presents a holiday show comprised of family favorites and seasonal standards that is sure to entertain fans of all ages!

Growing up the daughter of a music teacher, Kat Perkins has been singing, dancing, and performing for just about as long as she can remember. At just 15 years old, Perkins made the move to the Twin Cities from rural North Dakota and her professional career began as she became a success in the Minneapolis-St. Paul theatre scene!

Over the years, Perkins has performed and recorded music as a solo artist and with numerous bands. In 2012, she had success with a single written by Chad Kroeger (Nickelback) that featured Guns N’ Roses guitarist Ron ‘Bumblefoot’ Thal, Nine Inch Nails drummer Ilan Rubin, Grammy-nominated producer Joe Marlett (Foo Fighters, Korn) and her current musical director Eric Warner.

In 2013, she received an opportunity to go to the Middle East to perform for the military. While on the trip, a video of her singing randomly at the Amsterdam airport ended up on Youtube and prompted a call from NBC’s The Voice. She quickly found herself in the national spotlight as a Top 5 contestant coached by Adam Levine (of Maroon 5)! “Fearless” marks her debut solo release. The song was produced by John Fields (Pink, Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez) and independently hit #5 upon release on the iTunes charts.

Give to the Max Day 2016

Ashland Productions is proud to join GiveMN and nonprofits across the state of Minnesota for Give to the Max Day on Thursday, November 17!

What is Give to the Max Day? Give to the Max Day was created in 2009 to launch GiveMN, a collaborative venture led by Minnesota Community Foundation and many other organizations committed to helping make our state a better place. That initial spark ignited a blast of online, raising $14 million in 24 hours. Since then, Give to the Max Day has become an annual tradition. Every year thousands of organizations and individuals generate donations and excitement for Minnesota causes that are working to improve the quality of life for all Minnesotans.

How can I help? This year, our goal is to raise $15,000 on Give to the Max Day. Your donation on Give to the Max Day not only supports all that we do at Ashland, but it also may help us receive an additional donation of $1,000 or $10,000! How? On November 17, every gift made on GiveMN.org will be entered in to an hourly drawing for a $1,000 GiveMN Golden Ticket to be awarded to a nonprofit organization. That adds up to 24 opportunities for you to help us receive an extra $1,000!

But that’s not all! Two 10,000 Super-sized Golden Tickets will be awarded as well, at noon and at the end of the day on Give to the Max Day.

Be sure to mark your calendar and spread the word! All donations made between now through November 17 will be eligible for GiveMN Golden Ticket drawings!  Thank you for your support of Ashland Productions on this incredible day of giving. If you have any questions about supporting Ashland Productions on Give to the Max Day, please contact Karen Biedermann at karen@ashlandproductions.org or 651-383-8117.

Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka

Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka follows enigmatic candy manufacturer, Willy Wonka, as he stages a contest by hiding golden tickets in five of his scrumptious candy bars. Whomever comes up with these tickets will win a free tour of the Wonka factory, as well as a lifetime supply of candy. Four of the five winning children are insufferable brats: the fifth is a likeable young lad named Charlie Bucket, who takes the tour in the company of his equally amiable grandfather. The children must learn to follow Mr. Wonka's rules in the factory... or suffer the consequences.
